The Gardening Enterprise Project
Members of the Tenbury group and Our Way are working up at Clee Hill on a gardening project. They are planting and growing plants, fruits and vegetables, making pallet furniture and doing other crafts. They have a stall at the Tenbury Applefest in the autumn. The project is facilitated by Chris Millington.
Our Way football teams – Stars United, Galaxy Stars, All Stars, Rising Stars (Under 16s) and Sparkling Stars (women’s only).
The 5 teams meet on Sunday mornings for training at the Wyre Forest Leisure Centre in the winter months and White Wickets playing fields in the summer in Kidderminster from 10.30 am to 12 noon. Members pay £2 a session. The team are members of Worcestershire FA and play in tournaments and competitions. Chris Millington is the coach and the project is overseen by Caroline. We have funding from Grow the Game for our football teams.
Our Way Self Advocacy has 4 young people (15-17) with learning disabilities who have been trained as Consulters. The Consulters find out the views, wishes and aspirations of young people with learning disabilities across Worcestershire. The information they gather is taken to the Learning Disability Partnership Board and the Transition Reference Group. This is where important decisions are made about services for young people with learning disabilities.
We run a rolling programme of a 3 day course. Day 1 – social skills and relationships, Day 2 – relationships and staying safe, Day 3 – Sexual relationships The course is run by Caroline, with Deborah Newton a sexual health professional.
Liberal Stars is our Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans group. They meet Tuesdays at 12.00noon, once a month at the Gardeners Arms in Droitwich to talk about issues they feel strongly about. This group is facilitated by Catherine
