Our Way Self Advocacy is looking for young people (14-17) with learning disabilities to train as volunteer Consulters.
When trained, the Consulters will be supported to find out the views of young people with learning disabilities across Worcestershire.
They will be supported to run focus groups, visit Self Advocacy groups, schools and colleges.
The information they gather will be taken to the Learning Disability Partnership Board and the Transition Reference Group. This is where important decisions are made about services for young people with learning disabilities.
Consulters will help young people with learning disabilities to have a say by taking their views, wishes and aspirations to the people who make the decisions.
Consulters need to be:-
Confident about speaking up – though we will support you to grow in confidence!
- Good at listening
- Reliable and committed
- Good at working in a team
